I love my ReedJuvinate reed case! Actually, I love all four. I bought one, loved it, and promptly bought three more. Over the years I had all but given up on reed cases making any bit of difference on the quality of my reeds, and had finally resigned myself to storing reeds in their original boxes. Let me preface this by saying that on average, my cane reeds lasted about a solid 4 days after breaking them in–for about 7 or 8 days total. I also broke in a whole box at a time. That’s roughly 4 boxes of reeds I was blowing through every month. But never having experienced anything else, I assumed this was normal! When I heard Sean’s interview with John Mackey, inventor of the ReedJuvinate storage system, I was completely floored by the amount of research that Mr. Mackey had put into developing this new case. As both a proper scientist and clarinetist, he had a problem (bad reeds) and he knew he could solve it with science. So he developed this case in which he claimed he could store his reeds indefinitely. No mold, no deterioration, nothing. Everlasting reeds! While I was both skeptical and intrigued, curiosity got the better of me and I bought one on impulse. I am so glad that I did! My reeds are in the best condition they have ever been in. I didn’t know that reeds could be this consistent from day to day, and I never knew that reeds could last this long. Not only do my reeds last for weeks on end, but I am able to practice so much more efficiently, as I never have to “fight” with my reeds. Nor do I have to waste precious practice time searching through boxes and boxes for “the perfect reed.” They’re all pretty much great reeds now. I was so thrilled that I wrote a full review of the system on my blog. You can read my full review here: http://www.charlottekies.com/blog/2017/10/12/review-reedjuvinate
